Too true! There’s quite a bit of rivalry building up between the Sony Alpha and Nikon camps. It's quite fun reading all the speculation.
I must admit, somewhat shamefacedly, I don't have any Nikons in my hoard/collection (except one APS SLR and I can't remember how I came by that). So, if I’m to get just one of the many models (to use as well as play with) which should it be?

I do a lot of reading old photo books and ancient magazines and it's quite noticeable that many years ago the phrase most often used is not take, snap , shoot or capture but "make" a photograph.

This one has a 50mm f2.8 Cassarit lens which I am assuming is 3 element. You need to host your photos somewhere (I use fickr - its free - www.flickr.com/ ) then insert the url of the image (obtained from the hosting site) between those symbols that clicking the image ikon brings up. It's easy enough to do once you give it a try.

I found it on eBay. It was just advertised as “old german camera” with a very blurry photo but when I zoomed in I could just about make out the MPP logo. It was in a very grubby state when received but cleaned up fine. Also came with the original leather case. The slower speeds stick a bit so that’ll be a job to do some day but those faster than 1/30th test out reasonably well. I’ll put a film through it sometime and post a picture or two.

I once had a similar “problem” mount with a lens. After much searching/asking it eventually turned out to be that there was a part missing - the manufacturer's mount!
Apparently these lenses were made with a terminating screw thread (not of a standard interchangeable lens mount size) to which was attached in manufacture various different camera mounts. The lenses were sold to fit different cameras and not as interchangeable mount lenses. It was never intended that this part was to be removable by the user.
Maybe this is the case with your lens?

I'm nearly certain I've seen that vehicle (one another VERY similar) down here in Gloucestershire. There's a young chap not far from me who drives an ancient Citroen 2CV AND wears John Lennon round glasses :-)

I once owned a Canon G2 digital with tilt&swivel display and it was one of the features that really made that camera worthwhile. You can shoot from the waist looking down, as with a Rollei or Hassy. Great for macro work. And you can accurately frame while holding the cam over your head in tight group settings. Gene Being able to use it TLR fashion was one of the reasons I bought a Sony R1 (another was the Carl Zeiss 24-120mm lens). Roger

Snipes are now the norm but it’s still worrying for new sellers when they see their item few bids and not long until the end. They panic and sometimes close early.
On the couple of occasions I’ve withdrawn an item I’ve notified the bidders prior to doing so. I think it become a little TOO easy to close early, once one had to cancel each bid manually but now eBay just does it automatically for you. with a single click.

Hi, So that makes 18 Zenits I've now got. Yes, I know it's a lot but while they continue to crop up at those sort of prices (and no postage) I can't resist them. Peter W Can you find 18 doors to prop open? Sorry just couldn't resist
