About the Oly cameras, take a look at www.flickr.com/photos/hanszeiss/. My favourites are the XA and the mju:3 - actually the mju:3 120 is even more versatile in the field. One small remark, though, there is always some vignetting, but it also gives a kind of authenticity to the pictures. Hans.

Truls,
Almost every Zeiss Ikon camera (pre-war and BRD post-war) is characterized with a body number consisting of a letter followed by 5 digits max (99999). We - the Zeiss Historica Society number freaks - are collecting those to recreate the Zeiss Ikon production numbers which were lost to the flames (Dresden bombardment) and to the old paper collectors (BRD...). Also the Carl Zeiss lens data are sought to do the same concerning the glass data.
We're happy with every bit of information...

Stephen, I can't agree more with you, here in NL it is hardly possible to get a decent Flektogon (2.8/35) for less than € 50. Let alone the 4/25, 4/20 or 2.8/20... The latter are doing € 200 plus:-(
In NL also a lot of Exaktas were sold (due to the once Dutch owner Steenbergen???)

Welcome Fernando,
Stereo cams is a wide playing field and - like you implied - a rather luxurous hobby... Years ago 2 x lubitel was enough to get you going, but then the Sputnik came along, etc. etc. Ferwerda's book was our bible then.
Again, welcome on board.

Truls, a man can collect nearly everything... also cameras:-)
Collection motivators are many, time, brand, body-type, landmark types, first-of-a-kind types, Point&Shoot, I've even seen a guy collecting all cameras from one particular catalogue!
Just try to know what you like, or what happens to you during life. In my case, my father had a modest Zeiss Ikon collection, he died young at 52, and I was the only son who took interest. Today my interests are Zeiss Ikon, the Carl Zeiss Stiftung and its history. And not only cameras, but binoculars, microscopes, whatever those kobolds in Jena dreamt of...
Like me, every person here has his own, equally interesting and valid story.

...it took € 35 to purchase it, but that was in the early digital days before the system camera boom. Analog prices were abysmal then. Hans

Good idea Doug, let's invite the other members to produce different ones. How many variations would that be? 5, 10, 15?? Hans

Bad weather has its virtues also... It's good to see the Exa back to work again!
