Tripped over this on *Bay. Know absolutely zip, zero, nada about anything Leica, but thought it might be of interest to some one here. Have no connection to item or seller. Roy 150177069999

Roy 150177069999 Roy, the lens in question is a Leitz-made 135mm f/4.5 Hektor for Leica rangefinder cameras. The mount is the standard Leica Thread (or Screw) Mount. The optical formula is similar to the Elmar in that it has 4 elements but it is different and was a replacement for the earlier Elmar 135mm f/4.5 lens. They were made in the black barrel models with both uncoated and coated lenses. They were made pre-war, war time and post-war but replaced by a chrome mount version not long after the war ended. They are much better than many give them credit for and I have several. This was taken with a Hektor 13.5cm uncoated lens on Arista EDU-200 Ultra film. Walker

Wow, there's nothing wrong with that lens! Is that a rolling block of some kind he's holding? Roy

Walker:
Beautiful shot! Over the years I've had some FSU and Canon 135mm LTM lenses but could never get excited about them. Always seemed like they didn't "look good" on an RF.

Compared to the shorter focal length lenses, the 135mm lens does look awkward. Having to fool with the finder and parallax correction makes it more of a deliberate combination than it is for action shooting. The combination of 35, 50 and 90mm lenses with a Leica or Canon RF body is hard to beat for travel but when quickness is involved with longer lenses, the SLR is the way to go. IMO, anyway. Walker

Walker
You experience with the 135 4.5 Hektor closely matches my limited experience with one and yes they are a little ungainly to use. Yes the Browning falling block action is a strong one and smooth too. I had a modern B78 in 7mm mag many years ago.
