Well I guess given that this a "Camera Collector " site, I would think we woud be slow to adopt digital. It might be some time before digital stuff gets collector status. I must confess that I just got a Nikon D70S for myself for Xmas. I can see what people say about not using their film cameras anymore. The ability to get immediate feedback and to take hundreds of shots without stopping is a very attractive feature. ISO changes? - no problem. B&W - no problem. Long term storage - BIG problem. I am still learning about the camera but so far I am very impressed. I just wish I could have bought the D200 because of it's usefulness with manual lenses. You can of course still use the trial and error method to get an exposure.

Collectable is collectable, I would think. Digital has been around for a decade or so now. I don't collect photo equipment for collecting's sake, but did once collect coins and stamps and I was just as interested in what was new as what was old. I would think the same would be true for those who collect cameras and camera equipment.

As a film 'traditionalist' I am interested in what is happening in the 'digital camera' world and do find it interesting and exciting.
But I have not yet made the switch to, or addition of a digital camera to my gear. And when I do, I would like to be able to use my present lenses inspite of the focal length factor and not have to purchase new 'digital lenses'. Guess that limits me to Nikon, AF and SLR.
I have considered, as an introductory start, of getting a small digital PS just to play around with, be able to take quick pics of equipment and get a feel for the digital media. But, even so, I have not reached that step...yet.
Have a decent digital 'darkroom' and love that aspect of digital!

Here is one for critiquing. Please meet Jaune. She and I were good friends for almost a month this past June. Then one morning I came outside and she had packed her bags and dissapeared into the night. I must have said something that offended her. It was shot with my Fujifilm 3800 on a tripod. She was about 1-1/2" long including those slender orange legs. Mickey

Hi Ron, Happy New Year. I think that the Pentax digital SLRs will take all K-mount lenses and M42 lenses(with an adaptor). No doubt someone will put me straight if I am wrong

Here is a night time shot taken with the D70S and the kit lens. I used a monopod and about a 2 second exposure with pretty much "auto" everything. No particular manipulation in PS.

The one Nikon digital SLR so far released that I would not care for is the D50. This is primarily because it uses SD rather than CF cards, as does every other Nikon SLR. I already have an D100 which takes the Compact Flash cards, and having to carry to separate types would not be something I’d want to do. Plus, CF cards are hardier, with less chance of damage compared to the SD cards.

I have a D70 I find it great fun. It reminds me of when I bought my first SLR, I am novice discovering the joy of photography. I also love the ease of sharing. Sunday was my son's confirmation I was able to share pictures from it with friends and family Sunday afternoon.

My son got me into digital, only because he said it is the way to go in the professional world (he's a pro shooter). He learned his craft with film, which he credits for giving him the knowledge base he needed, but he's been into digital (Leaf backs for medium- and large-format) for a long time, and now shoots a lot with the latest 12mp Canon. It was his suggestion that had me get the Canon 300D, and I'm glad I did. I still love my film cameras, but there are some things the digital is very convenient for.
