A-h-h-h, youth! Me, in 1973....my son was not quite a year old (he's the short, non-bearded one). Remember how we thought we knew it all?

Even earlier...1967. My, how much I changed in six years! The young lady with me is my lovely bride. She was all of 17...and I was an "older guy" at 19. We were married three years later, and my look had changed from my high school football days! I had that "long-haired look" soon after the first picture above...got it cut a bit for our wedding in 1970 (below) www.mamiya35collectors.com/wedding cake.jpg[/img]

When I was 17 I thought I knew far more than my Dad.
When I was 21 I was astounded how much he'd learned in four years!

Youth is wasted on the young. Peter, my Dad used to tell me, "I've forgot more than you'll ever know" well...my memory was the 2nd thing to start going, I forgot what the first thing was! ;D

Quote from an old sergeant-major talking to a platoon of recruits:
"I've only ever been wrong about anything once. That was when I once thought I was wrong about something. Iwas wrong. I was right"

I was 20 lbs thinner 39 years ago. I'm still married to that good-looking girl.

As everyone's posting wedding pics here's one of Valerie and me on our wedding day April 1954. I was a bit less scrawny then! Peter

We're all at it! The fifth engineer (to the right of the bride) later married my sister, the third mate (far right) later married my cousin, and the cadet (far left) got bit by the dog. An apprentice's life is not a happy one! We are all carrying our caps on the 'wrong' side because one of us had a button missing on the other side. Of such things history is made.... If anyone's interested, Faye's gown is trimmed with ostrich feathers. Regards - John
