Pre WWII photo, poorly scanned, of a well dressed motorcycle rider at Bramfeld now a suburb of Hamburg. Anyone know what make of motorcycle he is riding? You never know what you will find going through old family photos. Bob

Ron, You can get used to riding uncomfortable motorbikes. One of the most uncomfortable I ever owned in my younger (and even more mad) days of the late 1940s-early 1950s was a 1931 KTS Velocette, a road-going version of the KTT Isle of Man TT racing bike. It had a rigid rear end and girder front forks, and you had to keep the dampers screwed up tight on those to have any hope of control on a bumpy road at speed. It was only 350cc but it would do a genuine 85-90 mph with the compression plate removed and run on a mix of gasoline and methanol. Sometimes I wasn't sure if it was going along the road or flying low! Uncomfortable? Enough to shake your teeth out. But it was exhilarating - if you were young and mad enough. Who needed drugs!! .
