I've got one of the 40.5mm vented shades. The really look cool. Can't remember where I got it on Ebay.

Peter, those links were timely. I was just wondering if Heavy2stars had any vented hoods for 40.5mm thread lenses. I have one of these for my CV Ultron 35/1.7 and they're great hoods.
Just ordered one I can use on my Fed-2 and Zorki 4's.

While I was there, I also got some much-needed lens caps and regular lens shades. Generic makes, but so what? The price was very good! Peter, those both seem like excellent eBay sellers! Thanks again for the tip!

I've dealt with American Eagle many times. He is a straight up seller.

Yes American Eagle is OK. I have bought rear caps from him for many of my lenses. It was a lot cheaper than buying the same here in the UK.

Ron: Does you low SN FED lack an accessory shoe? The early models didn't have it and the finish was fairy rough--lots of hand tooling marks. My earliest FED is an NKVD (99495) which puts it at about 1937. It has the earliest type accessory shoe which has a small alignment pin--later ones didn't have it. Us a lens hood when you shoot with the early FEDs. The lenses are uncoated and flare easily. I just bought 99254, haven't actually received it yet though. I'd guessed at 1938 so I wasn't too far off then :-)

My NKVD is #110435 and I'm figuring by Maizenberg that it's a 1939.

Boy those SNs are close. Sound like my FED's twin! I got mine in the states--the cuirtains had hardened around the rollers. Sent it to Oleg for CLA and curtains. I've never gor around to shooting with it, however.
