Shot these Old Skool Rodz last week at the Cruise In. This style of car harkens back to the day of Juke Boxes, Pegged Pants, Poodle Skirts, and Buddy Holly. On the left is a 1937 Ford Deluxe in black primer, and on the right is a lowered 1949 Mercury Club Coupe in red oxide primer. How low can you go? Elvis, has left the building...

Nice one Randy. There can never be too many cool old car photos for me. Some of my favourite cars are '34-40, then I jump to '55-58 and finally '61-81, after that pretty slim pickins till lately. Lead sleds are cool too, just not my favourites but there's somethin' bout a Mercury...

Bob, that's one cool Merc. Been chopped too. VERY few other cars come close to being as neat as the '49 & '50 Merc for customizing IMO. The '52 & '53 Mercs were also neat as were the same year Fords. The '57 Chevy? Dime a dozen and hold no interest for me at all. (I'm already ducking because I know how popular they are!) Walker

Here's my friend Mike's 1954 Ford Coupe. Mike drives it and never trailers it. He's even drove it around Lowe's Motor Speedway in New Hampshire! That's a spectator by the car. Mike owns Suite Basils Cafe here in North Conneaut and he makes great HOME FRIES!

Walker, If you really like that Merc it is for sale or was a week ago. Bob Thanks, Bob. I wish I could afford to own it. The best I could do was a 1949 Ford Club Coupe that cost me $76.25 in 1960! Wish I still owned it too. Walker

Mike owns Suite Basils Cafe here in North Conneaut and he makes great HOME FRIES! For a short while I owned a 1954 Ford Victoria 2-door hardtop with a Moon Roof. The Moon Roof was a green plexiglass window set into the roof over the front seat. It had a V-8 with OD. The oil pump went bad and that was that. It's another one I wish I still owned. Walker

I know what you mean Walker. My first father in law, now deceased used to love to relate how his buddy and he used to cruise in an Auburn Speedster that you simply pulled a lever and had open exhaust for no restriction. Said it would go zero to a hundred miles per hour in no time flat but used so much oil that they'd stop and pick up used oil at garages to keep it going. Since the Auburn was mainly aluminum, he said they got next to nothing for it when it finally died. His sister in California also had a Daimler sports car till recently and still owns a '56 Crown Victoria complete with factory air conditioning. And she's in her eighties, hmmmm.

My first car (not counting my mother's 4-year-old powder blue '62 Chrysler Newport sedan, that my parents gave me as a HS graduation gift -- that I kept exactly 30 days) was a 1964 Plymouth Valiant convertible. I don't have any pictures of it (at least none I can find yet...you've seen my room ) -- but here's a link to a shot of one that was exactly like it: 1964 Plymouth Valiant convertibleIt was the car I bought when I couldn't afford the eight-year-old Corvette I really wanted. Wish I still had it sometimes (sigh) brings back memories............

A beautiful car. Most of the '56 Fords my friends had were the 2-door hard top models and I loved them. They made a great rod too. I don't think I ever saw one with factory air and that would add to it's value as a collectable. Walker
