We have more snow here in Southwestern Michigan and it has been cold. 2 degrees F. above zero this morning. Waited till midmorning to get out and take a few pics...3 of which are posted here. Voightlander Vito II, Gosson Scout handheld meter and Kodak B&W 400ASA film. These pics show exactly what I dislike about the b&w C41 film...there is NO black and NO white...everything is just varying degrees of grey!!! Have some of this film to use up though. Anyway...pic #1 is of my attempt to make a snow-person yesterday. Pic #2 is a trail between rail fence and snow bank. Pic #3 is footprints leading into the forest. Ron Head Kalamazoo, MI

Cute snowman! He has lots of....um....character, lol. I like no. 2, the way the fence curves in and out of sight. There really isn't any black or white, is there?

That's strange Ron, I've never used C41 B&W film. Neat snowman. I see a face below the fence in the second picture, looks like a piggy.

Come on now Sherri and Randy...! That is NOT a snowMAN or snowWOMAN. My young granddaughter and grandson were here. She wanted a snowwoman and he wanted a snowman. So I told them that what we(mostly I) made was a snowPERSON!
Randy...by gosh...if one looks long enough, you can see a resembance of a piggy in that second pic.
One thing Jeanneatte and I like to do when taking a ride on a day with puffy clouds is to find resembances of animals, etc. in them.

Snowperson. Er, very diplomatic, Ron. I normally don't care much for the present politically correct things like xxxperson and Mss. In the old days the male embraced the female, something which has always received my enthusiastic support . Randy, yes, I too can see the piggy in the snow now you've pointed it out. Reminds me of the days when I was a kid and we used to have real coal fires ...remember them? I used to sit and imagine pictures in the glowing embers. Don't get the same sort of feeling with a bland radiator, but have to admit that it's much more convenient. It always seemed to be my job to go out in the cold and get another scuttle full of coal from the shed. Yes, Ron, I share your feelings about C41 black and white film, it's neither black nor white, which is why I don't use it. I like your picture of the trail between the fence and the snow bank. From the footprints in the snow it seems to be a well used trail, and the tantalising way it curves out of sight makes me wonder where all those people were going to or coming from. I quite like the snowman (sorry, snowperson). Subconscious self-portraint?? . We haven't had any snow here in Kent ... yet, so I haven't been able to go out and build a snowman with my grandson. Not too keen on the footprints into the forest. Maybe it would have been better with true black and white. Peter

Peter,
Yes...'policatical politeness/correctness' can definately be a pain sometimes...but in this case it was an 'easy out' for grandpa to grandkids.
The footprint trail into the woods was a lousy pic...but I included it to better exemplify my dislike for B&W C41. I do think that in true B&W it could have some merit.
I prefer to use color and desaturated in PS and print in black...if not using 'real' B&W film.
