A while back I had put a Takumar lens on Zenit 11 and then had a very hard time removing it. The pin from the lens got caught something on the Zenit body. Well, I did get it off w/o any damage to either. I have tried Argus, Fujica, Mamiya, Pentax, Helios lenses and it seems all of them can be used interchangeably, without a problem, on Argus, Fujica, Mamiya and Pentax bodies. I don't know if any other, besides the Takumar lenses cannot work on the Zenit bodies. But now my question is : are there other M42 lenses that are not compatible with other M42 SLR's?

Two definite causes for concern are Super Takumars as they have a second locating pin that jams in the screw head areas on some cameras, and f1.4 lenses sometimes. I had an f1.4 50mm Yashica that I put on a Zenit EM and as I tried to fire the shutter there was a loud clunk and you could tell the mirror assembly was jammed so it couldn't be cocked again. I removed the lens and the mirror continued its travel and the shutter was ok again. Turned out the lens was deep enough for the mirror to strike the rear lens element.
