For a while, Bell & Howell (Japan) was a distributor for Mamiya...and the markings and colors on that lens ring are similar to those found on Osawa lenses, who - I believe - bought out B&H Japan...and also became a Mamiya distributor. That said...I have never used this particular lens, but would guess it to be slightly inferior to the Mamiya lenses of the period...but still good enough to capture some surprisingly good images. Hopefully, someone in the forum has direct experience with it...and can give a much more insightful answer!

Yeah, that lens was made by Osawa. It was also sold by Qauntary but with different cosmetics. It looked like it was a re-badged Soligor.

I have just bought a Bell & Howell 60-300 f 5.6 zoom attached to a Konica Autoreflex TC, because I wanted the camera. I cannot find out much about the lens except that it is possibly not a top rate aftermarket lens. As it seems to be a fairly unusual zoom range, I wondered if it might be related to the 'Sears' badged job. And if it is also related by marque to the above 85-300.
I will be using the lens when it arrives, if it is as described by the seller!

I checked this lens out by buying a comparison review by the magazine 'Amateur Photographer' The conclusion was that it is a very average lens which is just about acceptable when stopped down to F11. It has now arrived, a very heavy chunk of glass, this one is very clean and looks good. I will be trying it out, if it is too bad it will make a good doorstop!

Had a brainstorm and bought a Sun Actinon 24mm f 2.8 to go on the Konica, will run a film past both lenses and see how I get on........
