I just picked up this little guy the other day to keep in the car. I ran a couple of rolls through it and was pleasantly suprised. It has a 38-130 mm zoom with ED glass. It take a reasonable snapshot. It comes with a little pop-up flash and AF . It fits easily in a pocket and covers most of the snapshot demands I have placed on it.

I got rid of most of my P&S cameras some time ago. The ones I still have are: Mamiya 135EE (although I actually count this in my rangefinder section) Mamiya (Tower) Auto 35 EEF Argus 260 (made by Mamiya) Kiston Reflex K1020 (made by Mamiya) Mamiya 135EF Nothing against P&S (my wife had several versions of the Nikon One Touch over the years, and they took quite decent pictures)...just had to make a decision about what not to keep, when the collection started to outgrow the room I kept it in!

LOL ;D There were a lot of look-alikes about this time...I even mention two of them at the bottom of my Rangefinder page on my web site www.mamiya35collectors.com/rangefinder.htm(and neither one contain the "C" word)!

I class a PS as a camera that has no choice for the shooter of adjusting aperture and shutter speed. You may or may not be able to change flash program. Basically...you aim, compose and press the lil'ol' button.
But they do have their purpose. For me, I do not want an SLR kept in my car or briefcase(when I was working). And the PS can fit in a pocket, purse or small pouch on one's belt.
My favorite...and ah hum...I am in good company as the photo mags have extalled(is this a word?) it many times...is the Olympus Infinity Stylus Epic with the 35/2.8 Zuiko lens. And it is the only simple PS that I have found does justice to slide film. I do shoot 400ASA(opps...my ol' age...I mean ISO) in it.

tHat Mamiya 135 looks remarkably similar to my Ricoh 500GX. Could Mamiya have made this tiny rangefinder for Ricoh???

Now I'm gonna see if I can define my idea of point and shoot. This camera is small, it's a pocket camera, and as it has no focus it's a point and shoot. It's my Ansco Speedex Junior. Picture 2Picture 3Picture 4Takes 120 film, so it's a Medium Format Camera also. This answers the question from Bob the other day.

No real argument, Randy,
But what's this??. Do my ancient eyes spot a small lever under the lens for changing the aperture?? Doesn't that make it an 'adjust, point and shoot'.
So what do those funny numbers mean? I've got nothing against technology for the knowlegeable, but why can't it have little pictures of sun or clouds like any other self-respecting adjust point and shoot camera aimed at the bewildered ??
Just splitting hairs for the fun of it ;D.

Well...yes Peter, you are right. The little dickens stops down to F-32! This is the camera a fellow saw me using and he asked, 'what are you doing, surveying?' sheesh! My tripod isn't orange!

Peter
that is a good point!! it technicly not a point and shoot...if ya have to adjust aperture....it is slightly more than a P&S.
