Bright (blaring) early morning sun as two rowers kayak into the Port Credit Harbour from Lake Ontario. The breakwater ship Ridgetown is in the background Canon A620 Gene P.S. I *will* return to film. Just haven't got there yet!

Beautiful photo, Gene. So, did you use the Convert to BW software for this?

Rick, John, Ray, Randy, thanks for looking! This is the kind of shot that's easier to do with a film cam than a little digicam. Can't see a thing on the LCD in that light so I used the optical VF (which is little more than a peephole). It's one of the reasons I wouldn't buy a digicam without an optical VF. It's what I call a 'shoot & pray' shot. I always feel particularly lucky when the image turns out to be workable. Ray, I tried the Convert to B&W plugin for this but couldn't get what I was after so I went manual and did the conversion and toning by hand. I'll try the plugin on something less challenging. John, if digicams tempt you at all, the little A620 is a great little cam. And very reasonably priced. They're showing up on sale these days as the model gets phased out. Easy to slip one of these into your camera bag along with your 'real' cameras Gene
