All is quiet now. The canons roar and the bullets whine have been silenced for 146 years but the memory still lives on. In noise and violence they died but in silence they remind us. Vicksburg Battle field military park Union cemetary Canon DReb Canon 28-105

Not exactly a cemetary, but a 200th anniversary re-enactment of Admiral Horatio Nelson's funeral procession along the Thames to Westminster: Canon PowerShot G5, normal zoom range and F:2, 500/8

A church and the cemetery in my hometown. The swing on the left belongs to the kindergarten of the church hall. Profane shot with a Canon PowerShot 45 digital camera.

The monument of the, Raate road battle, is simple and used idea (Viksburg) but impressive. The stone monument is on the actual battlefield. 23 000 stones, each for one fallen RA soldier.

To read the number 23000 carved in a stone monument does not have as good an effect as seeing those 23000 individual stones scattered on the ground. It really drives home the magnitude of the carnage. It must make a lasting impression when first viewed.

The colours are richer as well as the light being nicer than mine an hour or two earlier Bob. Mine are: Were you still shooting 400? Maybe the outdated Mitsubishi 100 is starting to show its age.

That cemetery in Sanford Florida Posted by majicman on Apr 9 remind me a cemetery in Savannah where the tombstones on a Confederation cemetary were pushed over or otherwise disgraced. Compared to Union cemetery the difference is eye catching. That Spanish Moss on the branches is typical on that part of Florida, I presume.
Out of this topic: I have deleted my pictures on that thread. Would it be better to leave them and then for how long or what about deleting the whole message if it is necessary for some reason and if the deleting don't cause confusion to the other content on a thread?
