John
No - it was later than that - I bought it in Singapore in 1970, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't old stock. Aaaagh - can't remember details!
Curt, that's definitely my 'M'. I don't have an original Minister (3 Minister IIIs though, and the lens extensions don't fit - no doubt because of the III's Cyclops. The meter is different too, although only superficially) . Yes it's a 1.9 lens (Wow!)
I have a Konica EE-matic S. Has the cyclops, but a totally different feel to it - more like a Canonet.
Regards - John

Here's a pic of the only Yashica J I ever had, but it wasn't an SLR. PeterW

I found an interesting Japanese website, tonight, with pictures of the Pentamatic S. miranda-camera.xrea.jp/nikomat0404/nikomat-senpu/pentamatic/pentamatic_s.htmlFrom these, it appears that the S, as well as a self timer, also had a bracket to mount a meter coupled to the shutter speed dial, very like the Reflex 35J. It also has the same strap lugs as the 35J. After reading a google translation of the Japanese text on the page, it appears that the Pentamatic S had a semi automatic diaphragm, like the first model Pentamatic.

John, This is a quite good site about Japanese rangefinders, not much about specifications but good pictures. This guy, Koichiro Fukushi has also an aim to take a picture or two with each camera of the collection. Btw. Online translation robots like Google Translate could get something out also from Japanese text. Much better as my "straight" crack at English homepage1.nifty.com/fukucame/index.htm

For Information - I have original Yashica catalogues illustrating the following cameras:
Reflex J Professional J5 J7 35J
TLS Super TL Electro X TL Electro X its
FX 1 FX 2 FX-3 FX 7 FX103 Program
FX-D FR
230AF
Rangefinder
Electro 35 Electro 35MC Electro GSN
J
Lynx Lynx 14E Lynx5000 Lynx 5000E
ME 1 MG1
Minister II Minister III Minister D Minimatic EL Minimatic S
YJ
Focus S
Photocopies of Adverts (Japanese) Flash O Set Flash O SetI Yashica Penta SLR Diary Instamatic EZ matic
Things you should know about Yashica catalogues. Other than the Electro 35, most rangefinders feature in "all in 1" (small as A5 sometimes) size catalogues Early reflexes similarly poor. Later ones lavish colour catalogues on a par with competitors.
If you want me to photocopy some of these for you, PM me. I will wait a couple of weeks to get all replies in and then do a bulk photocopy and send you jpgs.
N.B. My Minolta Collection is much more extensive! In fact I have lots & lots of catalogues and can find most 60s & 70s models

I have replaced the the dead links in this post with pictures uploaded to the forum. Interestingly, someone has just listed a Pentamatic on Trademe, my local auction site. They are asking $NZ290.

Well, I've finally bought a standard lens for my Pentamatic - and it comes with a non working camera attached. I expect it to arrive tomorrow.
