I have a Nikon F with a scratch on the pressure plate. Is there a way to get the scratch out, or should I replace the pressure plate? Does anyone have a spare pressure plate. Thank you in advance.

Have you tried to run a roll through it yet? Does it leave a mark on the film? I have film plates that have marks but don't impact the film. Phil

Run a test roll. If it does scratch the film the best bet is to replace the plate.

Yes, I get long fine scratches across the length of the film. someone is sending me a replacement pressure plate. Craig Your pressure plate can likely be salvaged with 0000 steel wool or fine valve grinding compound on cotton balls to remove the offending nick(s). Then wash thoroughly with alcohol and use cold gun bluing paste to replace the finish. Most cold gun bluing liquid or paste sold today will actually leave a black finish. You can use your film to identify the area that needs to be smoothed out. Work in one direction only..... no swirls or circular motions. Walker
