The black Bessaflex is very nice looking. It looks like a Nikon F with a plain prism. I like the satin finish.

Sorry folks, but as in the classic car market, however well engineered, with modern brakes, suspension and engine and however well it goes, it is still a replica! It cannot recreate the thrill of driving one that was built by craftsmen, solidly engineered and comes with proper provenance. What you all really need is not a lighltly engineered plastic and aluminium copy, what you should all be lusting after is the real thing: Mine is still as solid as the day it was built and that really does mean solid - not one of your lightweight Nikons, Canons, Minolta - a camera that sorts the men from the boys! If all else fails, you can use it like a club hammer! Paul

LOL! ;D It's one reason I still have a fondness for my old Mamiya DTL. Built like a tank...just missing the gun turret!

Besides, you might hit me with it! Gene

No doubt that the original Topcon is a rock! I feel the same way when I pick up one of my Ricoh Singlex cameras with 55mm f/1.4 lens.... an anvil of a camera if ever there was one.
I do like the looks of the new chrome Bessaflex and think it's quite an attractive camera. The black model is also very nice too.

Paul: Don't know which Nikons you are comparing the Topcon to but I think My Nikon F, F3 and F4 can compete weight-wise--especially the F4--all 40-some ounces! I would like to have a Topcon but they command some pretty stiff prices on the auction.

Now you've done it . . . . I was just getting comfortable with the fact the black Bessaflex was no longer available. Now all my Mamiya collection is going to know I'm still seriously considering another outsider.
What's the proper phrase here? "Get thee behind me........."
LOL!! ;D

BTW Randy, Hello from a fellow Ohioan from California. I was transplanted here 30 years ago (Uh-oh, I just dated my self) by the US military, and I was too stupid to go back home. Oh well, now I've got a great family scattered all over California. :-)

Ohioans ?? Yes, I suppose that's right - just seems a little bit of a mouthful. Had to laugh when Ceylon changed its name to Sri Lanka - we gained another 19 million Sri Lancastrians!!

Sri Lancastrians? Were the Ceylonians before, or Ceylonese? Personally, I rather like the ring of Ceylonites, although the simplicity of Ceyloni is appealing, too. Sorry, I couldn't resist.
