Randy, this one's a monster! Is it heavy as well? Looks as durable as your average tank Gene

Weighs in at leave a groove around the neck with neckstrap Gene. lol What I like about this one is that it takes four AAA batteries instead of that CR25(?) that the newer models used. Freda's CHINON GENESIS III uses that one also. I have the 35-80 Auto Zoom and the 35-105 Auto Zoom lenses for it.

Are you using alkaline, Nicad, NiHm, or Lithium batteries in the MAXX?

I'm just using Duracells I bought at Walmart. After a flush of enthusiasm for rechargeables I've gone back to alkalines. The rechargeables always seem to lose their charge soon after I start using them. I leave them in the camera too long and, of course, when I come to use it the charge has leaked away

You can always find good deals on batteries especially when buying large packs.

Well, I am now the proud owner of a Maxx 7000. Bout the only bad thing about it (and it's really just cosmetic) is the rubber on the grip, and battery compartment are cracked, and in the case of the battery compartment some of it's missing! But every thing else is in great shape, and it came with a Minolta 35~70 w/ macro lenses. I know, big deal right? Well I checked it out closer, and it turns out it's a crossed double x like they used at first, before all the flak they got about copyright infringement from Exxon. Well, I thought it was pretty cool. I just need to watch the bay for a battery compartment, and it will be almost pretty again. ;D I also got a 5000, but it turned out to be a bit of a dissapointment. It works, but it's a bit iffy in the aperture department. Oh well, can't get a winner every time. Thanks, Ed

I also now have a 7000 but I wrote on that in another thread. Just thought I'd mention mine weighs out at 800 grams with 50mm lens fitted. A real lightweight compared to my Pentax K10D with 18-200mm at 1.215 kilos. At that weight, image stabilisation is its most attractive feature when the light dims.

I've now put two rolls of film through my Maxxum 7000 and there isn't a bad shot in either roll. I know I ended up with another lens mount in my collection, but with so many Maxxum and Dynax models available I don't think it's a problem. Also, the lenses fit the newer Konica/Minolta 7D digitals and the new SONY ALPHA A-100 digital. I have a 50mm, 28-70mm zoom, and 35-105mm zoom that I picked up cheaply.

Well I have added another 7000 to the Minolta stable. It came w/ a 35~80 lens and a RC-1000L cord. The seller even included a few "extras" . 5 rolls of 200 speed film (3 Kodak Gold 24 exp and 2 Seattle FilmWorks 20 exp w/ use by dates of Nov 1996, and Nov 1998 ), a lens blower/brush, rear lens cap, a body cap, and a Sigma Achromatic Macro lens. The SFW film I think will probably never used as it's SFW-XL processing, and I don't think they do that processing anymore, nor have I heard of any other company that does it either. Thanks for reading this. Have a good one, Ed

I don't even think SFW is in business anymore.

SFW either merged or was bought out by another company. Somewhere in my "junk" (at least that's what my wife calls it ;>) ) I have the info. If I can find it, I'll put it up. Roy

They (Seattle FilmWorks) now go by the name of Photoworks. So they're still lurking about. I e-mailed tham asking if they still develop their old film. No they don't. They did say that there is one vendor who does. Dale Labs in Hollywood Florida.
