A local guy who knows I dabble in collecting gave me this. Was his wife's grandmother's. The pictures don't show how nice it is. Except for the case strap it's nearly mint. Kodak 1A probably made between 1929 and 1932. They made them in green, blue, brown and black. Had a roll of 116 film in it with five of six frames exposed. Not terribly valuable but sorta neat.

Very neat indeed, Wayne. As you say, not very rare, but in that condition more rare than most examples I would guess. Lovely gift.
Is that red machine beside it an outsize coffee mill? "They gotta lotta awful coffee in Brazil" to paraphrase Francis Albert.

Yep. That's a coffee grinder. My dad bought two of them at an auction after the war--brand new government surplus for $5 each. The wood parts on this one have been nicked up a little but I turned down $400 for it about 10 years ago. The value may have declined since then but I'm not interested in selling it anyway. The granddaughter loves to play with it.

That's the cleanest one of those I've ever seen. Most look like they had a bout with a paint spray can.

Very nice! I like the green tone to it. My dad handed on an early Kodak folder to me. It takes 120 film and I shot a roll with it just to see what I'd get. Some of the pictures came out pretty good. Mostly luck on my part. It's a little difficult to be limited to 1/25 and 1/50 shutter speed! But these old folders are good just for the eye appeal, right?
