No apologies needed.
I don't understand either.
Strange things happen in the world of electronics that escape the ken of us mere mortals.
I have gone through my boxes of cases. They are even a nuisance when they are not used. They take up so much space. Sorry. No Minolta XE case.
I am going to an antique camera fair on Sunday. I shall keep my eyes open for one that is not too expensive.

My XE-1 is holding up fine with no case - it is the chrome version. Am I right in thinking the black version used anodizing developed by Leitz, or is that another Minolta model? Anyhow, I have fitted a strap (nabbed off a Phenix) and there are no witness marks around the hardware. In fact, the only cosmetic damage are a few tiny scuffs and witness marks on the base plate and a chip of paint off the door. I can't imagine amateur use having any significant effect on an XE - dropping aside. The only thing to watch for are the slightly fragile timer, battery check and on-off switch; the self timer seems particularly well designed for snagging and snapping. The leatherette, while not as comfy as more modern fare, seems impervious to wear.
