More transparencies from 1961 Cornwall Exakta II, Meyer Primagon 35mm/4.5. Ektachrome. These Ektachromes had not deteriorated, but the first signs are there, small red spots that grow until the whole image is red. In the first picture, here and there in the sky, and in the foliage to the right of the foot of the lamppost. In the second picture, in the brickwork low down at the right edge. These spots are tricky to retouch, as they're surrounded by a halo of weaker redening. I've left them as they were here.

SidW it looks like summer time You'd only find those trains on preserved lines now. Can you recall which stations they were filmed at?

Randy,
Watching that train slowly back up with steam pouring out with that furious hissing makes me think that this machine comes as close to being a living creature as possible.

Stephen, thanks for the information. I hadn't noticed the odd formation of the DMU. Perhaps, as it was obviously mid-summer , they had made up a set for an influx of tourists. I tried to identify the locomotive from my collection of railway books but I don't have much on early diesels. I know that a few have been saved but sadly, it seems, not that class.
