I decided I have wasted enough time on this matter.
I ordered the FX-2 from KEH.
Hopefully when it arrives, the shutter will work!

Hard luck Bob You and Stephen were both right. The FX-3 works without the battery, just no metering. Incidentally, I think those LED + and - indicators are one of the best metering systems around at that time - you can see them in the dark. The Electro-X had it (and the Praktica MTL50). The FX-2 will be the same. View through the FX-3 viewfinder... Regards - John

OK...continuing the story. The FX-2 arrived from KEH. It is in magnificent condition and the shutter works as intended and (brac) the light seals have been replaced. The FX-2 seems to be much sturdier and have much better build quality than the FX-3. I must admit I am impressed with KEH also. Are their products always in this kind of condition? I have the 135mm Yashica lens on it now. Waiting for the 50mm to arrive. I will get it out to try the camera and the lenses as soon as I can finish up a roll in the Minolta X-570 and a roll in the Mamiya ZE-2.
