I suppose a sunrise is an odd subject for B&W, but it looked so much better than the col version. Bessa R3A, CV Nokton 40/1.4, Reala 100 Gene

I like the lightng in this, Gene. I don't really see why B&W should be an odd choice for a sunrise.
I don't know if it's my screen, but the picture seems to have retained just a suggestion of sepia. Did you keep it as RGB or CMYK and pull the colour saturation down to zero or did you change the mode to greyscale and discard all the colour information?

Thanks Peter.
I gave this a very slight warm toning at the end -- it was totally greyscale at that point, but I kept it as RGB for toning purposes.
In Photoshop I use the Color Balance tool (Ctrl-B) and mix a touch of yellow + red in the shadows, then a touch of yellow + red in the midtones. A little goes a long way -- rather than a full sepia toning, I prefer the look of a warm photo paper.
It's me old darkroom habits still haunting me :-)

Another "WOW" picture, Gene showing your usual ability to control the movement of the sun.
Although none of the cars is moving, I don't know why but I find the picture conveys a strong sense of motion.
