Sorry argoflex, i cant remember what your normal name is,
you got a great deal there, if only we could of purchased SLR's for $20 all those years back! ahh but the receipt only say about $17.96, i wonder if that can be for the camera! probably just an accessory? what country is the reciept from ?
as you may already know Hanimex began with Jack Hannes importing cameras into Australia and was a distributer for some big brand cameras such as hasselblad. his name was used as part of the Hanimex brand, something like HANnes IMport EXport, looks about right.
he imported from many different sources, that were rebadged as Hanimex and eventually influenced some camera designs as well... yours certainly appears to be a Cosina CT-1 or a CT-1a, the differance you should be able see by looking through the finder, the later has LED's the former has match needles
not much info around that i have ever found on the Hanimex SLR's, my old Yorkshire friend, Uncle Jim, used to go back to the UK every 2 years for holidays when i was a kid and he really liked the pictures i made with my first SLR a Ricoh KR5, it inspired him to buy duty free a SLR on one of his trips, so he purchased a Hanimex (forget the model off the top of my head) that had Auto mode and 1/4000, a very capable camera, not a sleek as my Ricoh haha, i might add, but as a young teenager i was envious of a top speed of 1/4000...it fell to me to teach him how to use it but he never did get the hang of it, point and shoot on auto was the best he could do, and he soon went back to a more basic camera,,, i always objected to him using it on auto lol

The Hanimex DR-1 is listed as a Cosina made camera in our Cosina Files. You can get to the Cosina Files by clicking on the links at the top of the page.

That's a great find! I would like to say I never get that lucky but I was just given a mint topcon yesterday that has had less than a dozen rolls of film through it. Yours is a very nice outfit shoot her with pride.

Yes, it works just fine for me. My domain host has blocked some IP's in your area because of spammers. I have asked them to remove it, but they said no because they will try to hack them.

I STILL have a pile of Nikons. Considering starting a collection of Ricoh SLRs and RFs.

Andrew -
I agree: The "Hippy Straps" that sometimes come with an old camera are comfortable, secure, and great looking. Added bonus when you get one that will hold film and filters. I'm gaining a pretty cool incidental collection of them myself just from Ebay and Craigslist purchases.

I agree too. I only have one, but I find myself switching from one camera to another 'cause it's so comfortable! Bought it new for use on my first good camera, a Contaflex II back in 196---------4.
That Hanimex looks just like my Ricohs. Roy

Andrew: No, Andrew, you're just entering the prime of life. Let's see ... 196 ... 4 I'd been married 10 years and ... oh heck, admit it, Peter. You've got old! No, hang on a bit, let's rephrase that: nicely matured. . PeterW

I thought Ricoh or Chinon myself even though I have a couple of Cosinas but I believe Andrew nailed it. Appears to be a Cosina CT-1. Hippy straps and 2 inch straps? I have 46 I keep in a bag as well as two Canada maple leaf and one brown/red stripe one I use for all my shooting. I even have about a dozen new ones still in the plastic (Canada maple leaf style) but they irritate my neck since they have a sewn in vinyl lining. Just love those old hippy straps (even better than my 3 neoprene straps). In 1964 I was a toddler still dreading school but I was lucky we didn't have kindergarten so I was spared.

Since I think my Ricohs were built by Cosina, I think Andrew is right. Roy
