My wife and I took a couple of days to travel around the "thumb" area of Michigan's lower peninsula. These are a couple of shots from the trip: This one was in a little park near Caseville, on the western side near Saginaw Bay. This was near Harbor Beach, on the eastern side near Lake Huron.

Ron,
To paraphrase Phil Harris "And that's what I like about the north."
Definitely a thumbs up.

Two very nice picures ! Looking like the park opposite to my appartement. Same season here in europe ( but sadly without sunshine ). I saw in the morning a gray heron sitting there in a tree and a week ago a spotted "Specht" ( cannot fill in the english word woodp...., because therefore a bold german word will appeare, don`t know why ) waiting for to make a third hole in the facade of our house. This bothersome guy is very shy and observable only for seconds. He comes annualy in autumn to wake you up at 4:30 and ruin the house. I know this is childish but i gave him a nickname: Joshi lg MIK

Ron The colours in the first one are great. Looks very relaxing there. lg MIK From the looks of the bird in the photo I think Specht would mean Woodschwanz in English. My sympathy as they can be very noisy when drilling their holes especially if it is working on the house you are in. The largest one in our area is a Pileated Woodschwanz en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pileated_Woodschwanz that sounds like a trip hammer in the woods. Very hard to get a photo of it. Bob LOL I though I was losing my mind but the site software keeps changing a certain word that it doesn't like in English to schwanz which is nose in German. Some schwanz do look like the word that is objectionable but I wouldn't want a schwanz in place of it. Got to have fun with software that takes offense to something completely out of context. No offense meant to anyone. Bob Okay, did it again. That should be tail not nose in English.
