Four years after I stopped paying the bill, my website, The Casual Collector, has been removed by its host, Vermont Telephone. I am surprised it didn't happen sooner.
No great loss as it had been five years since the last addition.

Darn! Guess that means I have to take it out of my 'saved' folder!

To whomever maintains the links page: My site has moved from www.swcornell.com to www.zorki1c.com. However, anyone who goes to the swcornell.com site gets a link they can click on to get to the new address.

All the articles and photos are saved on my computer. If I find a cheap host I'll revive it.

Out of interest, what's the cost of having a site hosted in the US, assuming you don't want advertising, and how much space do you get for your money?

Peter:
Through my host (they just provide the space--you have to put the site together) it costs about $100 per year--not really that bad. It's through a Utah-based provider called Bluehost.com. I think I get something like 2 gigs of space (that's quite a bit, actually). I just added the zorki1c.com domain name for $10 a year.

Wayne, That's quite a lot more expensive than the UK based host I use, and have been using with no problems, for about 5 years. The company is Stay Linked UK, and you can see their hosting charges here www.pronetspace.co.uk/hosting.htmI use their Gold service, 500MB of disc space and a monthly 5GB bandwidth. At the moment I've got one sub-domain but I can have up to five. It costs me £45 a year, which is roughly $73 US. For anyone who just wants a smallish basic website their Budget hosting at £12, $19.60 US, a year is really inexpensive I can't at the moment recall how much I pay per year for my .com domain names. Peter:
The main difference would be that my host doesn't have any bandwidth restrictions.
Of course I still have seperate charges through the phone company for a DSL connection--which is considerably more than the hosting charges.

Johnny:
Tempted to come down to Phoenix for the Boise State-TCU Bowl game Jan. 4. Always regretted not being there when the Broncos beat Oklahoma, Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be able to make it.

My alma mater is U. Oregon. Was lucky enough to see Ducks win the Fiesta Bowl here in 2002. It was neat to encounter a bunch of old acquaintances -- and some friends -- there at the stadium. Hope to see you here sometime, Wayne! You'll love our very fun, old west-themed store: www.GoldMountainMining.com/aboutus.html

We were in Scottsdale in June 2008 for a convention and visited with a neice who lives in Tempe.
There will be about 30,000 BSU fans there the first week in January. Should be good for business (as long as you don't tell them you are a Duck).
