I've not been very active with my cameras of late, but one of the forums I'm on has a monthly theme. The theme for May is "Looking Up" Taken with a Panasonic G1, kit lens, and WA adapter attached. Approx 18mm viewpoint. [click for large view] Gene

Gene: As always, you have an "eye" for the image. Nice shot!

Lovely picture Gene.
If I got that close to the ground I am not sure I would be able to get up.
Mickey
P.S. Nice hat.

Ron, Mickey, thanks.
Fortunately the G1 has a tilt & swivel back allowing me to put the camera on the ground TLR style.
The 'hat' was a prop lent to me when it was my turn to shoot with the Ansco Viking 6x9 folder. It was one of those "camera around the world" things.

Didn't you have that hat on your Avatar once before Gene? But that would be back in the 'olden days' when things were so much dimmer... LOL

Hi Gene,
A real beautiful picture ! I shot a near similar colored version a month ago. The vikings finally made it to Canada, an awesome looking helmet ! Or are you a spare time heroic tenor in some Richard Wagner Opera ?

I like the theme "looking up" - an interesting set on the flickr site of GW..
I like the photo too - and the more I look at it, the more I like it.
Love the hat too. Wirral had a strong Viking presence a few hundred years ago, which is reflected in many of today's place names. Near to us is Thingwall, from the Old Norse þing vollr, meaning 'assembly field'. There are many places with the -by suffix (Irby, Greasby): this meaning 'settlement of'.
It is said by some that King Canute tried to hold the sea back at Meols, just a few miles from our house. This story has always done Canute a disservice. His point was that even he, a king, was not all powerful and could not stop nature taking its course.
