I bought a Maxxum 7000 yesterday at a garage sale but I didn't have a battery to try it so I knew was taking a chance. After changing the batteries, including the memory battery, it is still dead. Does any one have any clues as to what to look for?

I had to look up Maxxum 7000 to remind me what it was like. I wouldn't know but there must be someone out here who does.

My Maxxum takes AAA batteries. If it don't work, it's broke.

If there were batteries left in it for a long time, the contacts oxidize. Sometimes they might look ok, but are coated. Try cleaning them with an old ink eraser, that might help.

pompiere,
I got out my 7000 and manual to see what I could see. The 4 AAA batteries were dead. I have put them on charge. When (if) I get the camera going I will see if I can discover anything of value.

I haven't tried the 4 AAA batteries because it came with the optional Lithium battery adapter. I guess it is similar to the AA adapter that was also available, in that it gives you a nice fat grip and 4 times the battery life of AAA's . It measures 6 volts at the output terminals with a fresh 2CR5. Oh well, if the camera is dead, maybe I can sell the adapter to recoup my loss. Thanks, Ron

pompiere,
It's much to nice a camera to give up on it that easily.

I would take off the adapter and try batteries.

Well, the AAA's didn't work either. When I have some time, I'll remove the cover plates and see if I can trace where the power is going. I agree, it is much too nice of a camera to give up on.

Any day now I am expecting an expression of excitement, from pompiere, declared with the words "Look! It's moving. It's alive. It's alive... It's alive, it's moving, it's alive, it's alive, it's alive, it's alive, IT'S ALIVE! "

Dave,
Calm yourself. It's not the birth of a baby. Merely a reincarnation. Hmm. Come to think about it that is an exciting occurrence. It's alive, it's alive, it's .... and so on!

Sorry, I haven't had time to pursue it any further. Right now I am getting a new furnace installed, so tinkering has taken a back seat to other priorities..

Well, pompiere, if all else fails throw it ion the furnace - then send for the fire brigade as it explodes into life.
