Rick,
Well then that would be a problem for me because I've read the XA lens starts getting very sharp at around f5.6 to f8. If that's the "Sweet Spot" on the lens I'd rather go with the sharpest.
Maybe a direct comparison isn't a good idea. Just take identical shots and let the cameras go with what the user thinks is the best exposure.
I'll probably still do the comparison but I don't know how scientific it will be.
These little XA series cameras would be great for carrying on a motorcycle.

The XA arrived today and it's exceptionally clean. Looks much nicer than the user I sold last year. I paid a higher price for this one, but I'm glad I did -- it's a beauty. Now I need some time to use it!

Sometimes things don't work out. Took a walk with the spiffy XA today to run a test roll and noticed right away that the meter was off -- overexposing by 2-3 f/stops. I double checked the batteries. They were the right kind and my voltmeter showed them to be fresh. Reinserted them, but same problem. Tri-X rated at 400 was giving me 1/60 @ f/16 in bright, noonish sunlight. Sigh ...
I contacted the seller and he has graciously already refunded my money and I'll be shipping the camera back. Too bad -- it was a real looker. And I'm certain the seller wasn't trying to do a number -- he's a nice guy.
First time that's happened to me. Well, tomorrow I think I'll reload my Tri-X into my trusty Canonet QL17 GIII and take it for a spin...

Fantastic. Just bought Rick's XA. I'll soon be using a peashooter again! Thanks Rick! Gene

The XA I bought from Rick arrived yesterday and I'm eager to take it out for a spin. It's been well used (I don't think Rick would mind if I call it 'scruffy' cosmetically) but I actually like that. I scuff them up anyway, carrying them around in pockets and bags. The lens is very clean and the viewfinder cleaned up nicely. Now that I have it in my hand, I don't understand why I ever sold my original one... I'm a big XA fan.

Here's a shot of the little guy. I tried to keep the Starbucks motif subdued to keep everyone's blood pressure lowered Ran a test roll of Maco/Mitsubishi (Gekko) 100 through it today, then promptly loaded it with a roll of my fav B&W film: Tri-X Gene

Congrats, Gene. That is the condition I got it in and I don't think I ran but one roll through it. I am really more comfortable and at home behind an SLR. And it was a shame for it not to be used.
