Those people that call them " Flying Gemstones " are right on the button, just gorgeous. One thing with birds and Photography is the you never seem to have enough focal length when you see one. You had me googling Kingfisher because that is not the colouration of the Kingfisher around here. I did not realize that they were as wide spread around the world and so varied in colouration. The Belted Kingfisher of our area is dowdy by comparison. I think we got ripped off when the handed out the Kingfishers.

MIK,
Splendid photos of a difficult subject.
Our Kingfishers are, I think, a little larger and, as Bob said, rather drab.
