I had one of these delightful cameras including all three lenses. We took it on a three week group tour in Mexico and got some high contrast chromes. Everyone should have one of these in their collection .

The Ambi Silette does exist as two types. The first type is the one with the annoying short advance lever. The second type, as noted above, has a far better advance lever and a reordering of the frame lines. But that is not the most important difference. A look at the front of the viewfinder/rangefinder window will reveal that the Type 2 rangefinder window is much farther to the right than the first version. This makes the rangefinder base wider. I suspect that a wider base was needed to get the necessary focusing accuracy for the 130mm Telinear that Agfa added to the lens lineup in 1959.  |
