Like many others, I fell into the trap of looking down my nose at the point and shoot genre of cameras. "What?!? Me use one of those toys? Not on your life!" Then I retired, and my fancy-shmancy SLR gear was ignored for almost 20 years. Then one day I really needed a camera, and when I got out my SLR, it had gone bad from sitting. Buried down in the bag was this Vivitar: simple fixed focus, "sort of" auto exposure point and shoot. I didn't even know it was there, and still don't know where it came from! Roy Loaded it up, and it worked PERFECTLY! That camera is responsible for restarting my interest in cameras, and for the punishment y'all are having to put up with now! ;D This shot was taken with that same camera just a couple of days ago: Don't sell these little turkeys short!

Roy,
Splendid. Whatever the camera it's just a case of using its abilities to the "max".

Yea, sure makes you wonder why people agonize over gear choice a lot of times.

Nice shot Roy! Since I've started collecting point & shoots, they've re-kindled my interest in cameras and photography in general. I still collect and use traditional photo gear, the p&shoots are to me just another facet of a fascinating hobby Doug

Excellent Roy. We have a Minolta Freedom II that I got in a bunch of camera stuff on evilbay. Freda put some film in it and she liked it. So everytime we go out shooting Freda always has that little Minolta in her bag.

I have a couple of 'point & shoots' as well and my favourite is the Olympus XA3 which I picked up for a few pounds. The lens is surprisingly sharp and have made reasonable 10"x8" prints with it. Very handy for those occasions when you can't take your SLR and lenses with you, but want a camera you can just slip into your pocket.

Goes to show that in proper hands, something nice do turn up, Good shot Roy. P & S are small and discreet, its something that one carries in his/her pocket all the time, I do.
