Peter, I took the first photo, and have used noise ninja first and then photoshop spot healing brush for the following result (there has been no further resharpening: I only got CS5 because CS4 would not read the new Canon RAW files, but having got it I found the new spot tool much improved. Noise Ninja is a third party plug-in which for many noise situations is better than the on-board photoshop system.

Dave,
I'm really impressed with what you did to the first of the pictures I posted.
I can't afford at the moment to upgrade to CS5 but I will certainly look into Noise Ninja. I hope it works with CS3. Its descreening ability without loss of sharpness is truly amazing.
Thanks for showing me

Peter,
No one can afford CS5 at the prices they want to charge. I got mine from China for (I think 99 US$). It came in the proper box and was instantly accepted by Adobe as being legit. I have just been looking for the web page, but it has disappeared for the moment. You can load a 30 day trial of CS5 direct from Adobe.
Dave.

The power of content-aware spot healing: I have only used the one tool. I couldn't seem to get the chair leg any better (a bit of cloning would sort it though). Peter, it is the clever people at Adobe who should have the credit - I have merely used what they have written.

Dave:
I was fortunate. My ex-employer bought me a suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat so that I can do work for them at home--otherwise I couldn't justify the cost.
