That is a nice looking camera. Plus it use of 135 would make it a very usable collectable.

I got this Bessa without even knowing it, a while back I saw a bag of camera gear at a yard sale - not a camera bag but a huge holdall. I was looking inside it and the guy said "£20 if you want it ?" so I closed the bag, and got my wallet out out without looking at what was there. Then he said "there's some more camera s**t in this box, take that as well" So I did, I could barely carry it all. At a rough estimate there was probably over £800 worth of photographic gear in all, including this nice Bessa which I have yet to use.

Hi, I'm new to camera collector, and this was the first post that caught my eye. One of my folders is a Bessa 1. It had fungus, so I removed the three screws holding the lens front element and removed. Cleaning the fungus was easy, it hadn't...how shall I put it?...it hadn't begun to begun to eat into the glass or anything silly. So, reassembly was easy... but I lost one of the little screws. And if that wasn't bad enough, the focusing is now quite stiff. It takes superb pictures, I haven't run a film through since my expert! handiwork, but I'm apprehensive; the focus could be out. And it might interest GeorgeM to know mine cost quite a bit more than ten quid!
