Hi Curt,
There is good news and bad news
The good news is that you have two genuine (complete with rose tinted bright line finder!) Montanus Roccas.
The bad news (for me) is that you haven't got the re-badged Regula version. In fact I have yet to see a Regula badged Montanus Rocca! The reason given in McKeowans for them is that the US importer, unable to get further supplies of the Rocca, asked Regula to re-badge some of their models. Evidentally not many were made (another hare for us both to chase!) for I haven't seen one on eBay in five years of looking!
The problem with Montanus is that they didn't label the bulk of their cameras so model names are guesswork! You assumed, quite naturally, that a Prontor SLK shutter made it the SLK model!
In fact several of them have SLK shutters. In front of me (and clearly labelled roccamatic (with a RF) is one and also one of the very basic models (without a rangefinder and with an exposure calculator) is another!
If you look at the period advertising by the UK importer (Amplion) in the UK, the models are numbered. The addition of an "m" (presumably for meter) is the only suffix.
As far as I can tell, the model designations are:
Model 2 - 2.8 Ennagon 3 element lens - Vario shutter - Exposure disc - 2m with built in uncoupled meter. These come up quite frequently on eBay - they seem to be the only ones sold!
(Also marketed as the Montana, though I have never seen one)
Every other model is quite rare, though silly prices have not yet become the norm!
The model 3 had an 2.8 Ennit 4 element lens - Prontor LK shutter (3m uncoupled meter) I have the Hanimex Duomatic badged version, so they were following in the footsteps of Regula with "badge engineering)
Model 4 - uncoupled meter - Prontor SLK shutter - 2.8 Ennit 4 element lens (4m with meter)
Model 5 - 2.8 Ennagon 3 element lens - coupled meter - Prontor LK shutter (later to be renamed the Roccamatic LK)
Model 6 - coupled meter and rangefinder- Prontor SLK shutter- (later to be renamed the Roccamatic)
Yes, I am still confused about all the model designations and it will only be solved when I have got an original catalogue - finally I think I have tracked one down, so all the above is subject to revision! Do yours fit into the above pattern?
Paul
