Not everyone will agree that the bottom picture is an improvement but I had a shot of granddaughter Grace and her first real "Best Friend," Blair. The original was shot in the house with lots of clutter in the background. So I isolated the girls and created another layer for whatever background. I also lightened up Blair a bit. I know there's considerable distortion but I kinda like that part. Wayne

Wayne,
Some things are easy to cut out from the background. The most difficult thing is hair. Well done on getting that to look right.
I'm never sure which looks the better, but it is certainly easier and less expensive than it was when it all had to be done on paper. The top picture gives more information, such as the time of day (assuming the clock hasn't stopped). The bottom picture does focus the eye more on the subject.

You are right. Someone looking the the photo 20 years from now might get a lot of information out of the background. And you are right about hair. This inmage was easier than most in that regard,

Hey Wayne would you mind helping me with a picture i just took a few minutes ago. It is of a chipmunk that lives around my house, but he must have been scared because there is a little turd next to him that i would like Photoshopped out (cant say that with a straight face lol). Could i send the picture to you to photoshop?
