We have a new Huddle House short order grill that opened in town so I thought it my civic duty to check it out. I put my little Zeiss Ikon Nettar in my coat pocket along with my Norwood Director light meter After I ordered breakfast and coffee i pulled the meter out and took a reading. The cafe has very open windows and I was using 400 speed Fuji Neopan. I got a reading of 1/60 @ f11. The Nettar is a zone focus so I just set it to hyperfocal. While I had the old meter out in the very crowded place not one person paid any attention to me. I took the camera out and set everything and then just sat it on the table pointed where I wanted it and clicked. Not one person looked my way. I then wound it on and turned it in another direction and took another shot. Once again the same result. The waitress said it was a cute toy. Now what do you reckon the reaction would have been if I had pulled a big old honkin SLR out and snapped away? Has anyone one else tried this? I will soup it Monday when I finish the roll and see what I got

The same weekend I bought my D70, I took my wife and kids to Old Country Buffet to celebrate. As we were sitting at the table, 2 women sat down on a bench that was right outside the window next to our booth and began talking on their cell phones. The annoying thing was that they were both facing into the window, and the bench was only a few feet away so it was like having an "audience" as we were eating. They were there for a long time, looking into the window talking on thier cell phones and we were starting to get really annoyed. I thought since they were outside, perhaps they couldn't see in because of the glare on the glass so I took the D70, aimed it at them and shot a couple of frames. They both gave me weird looks, but continued to stare in which then started to really annoy us. So I put a big wad of food in my mouth, chewed it up, then opened my mouth toward the window and pointed to the chewed up food. (the ol' see-food trick) They both looked at me horrified, one looked like she was about to throw up! LOL! They quickly left. We had a good laugh and continued dinner.

Rick, I work at a used car lot, (secretarial/title clerk) and I take my cameras to work with me. We do in-house financing so we have the same people coming in week after week to make their payments. I don't know how many times folks have asked me to take their pictures with their cars. I've also aimed my cameras at people and they actually pose for me! Steve, that's great! I don't know how many times I've thought of doing the same thing.

Hi byuphoto...I've got a tiny(I mean really tiny) Pentax 110 film format slr. I may have to try that trick some time. I've already had people interested in the tiny camera. But I haven't tried to be an inconspicuous pixer yet. Grace & peace to you....litesong

I have noticed when you raise any camera to your face or use the new digital era technique and hold the LCD up that people take notice. I am using the Nettar and my leica with the 35 to try this type of shot. When I get a Jupiter 12 35mm lens for the Zorki I will try it with the self timer and see what I get

When doing some of my street shooting, I will use an SLR rather than a 'silent' RF. There have been so many times I may be 12 feet away from the people and they pay absolutely no attention, or even seem to be aware of me, until they hear the mirror slap. I have caught a few rather unique facial expressions at that time when I resnap.
Then, just to show where peoples' minds regarding cameras are today, I have had a few ask to see the pic...thinking I am using a digital camera.
