Found an image that I don't think I've posted here before. Someone in my own forum asked to see one of my 120 images from Italy. There were only a few...and this (I thought) was one of the nicest. www.mamiya35collectors.com/florence harbor.jpg[/img] This is the harbor we entered the day we went to Florence, Italy. The shot was taken from the balcony of our stateroom, as we came into the harbor in the morning. Used my Zeiss Ikonta folder, braced on the handrail, using Fuji Velvia 100. Exposure not recorded, but I think it was about f/11 @ 1/100 sec.

Florence? It's about 40 miles inland!
This is Livorno, known to all British seamen as Leghorn (don't ask!) One of my favourite Tuscan towns (and particularly good tor "tosta prosciutto al formaggio")
You must have got bussed to Florence Ron?
Regards - John

I was just about to post that very fact. This was the day we went to Florence. However, we came ashore in Livorno (as the closest port), and took a custom coach (fancy name for a nice bus) to Florence. I'm not entirely sure what this tower was, unless it served as some sort of beacon (probably not...not enough windows on top)! And, since I was still in my PJs in my stateroom and there was no one to ask (except my wife, who wouldn't have known either) I have no idea what it was. All I know is it looked interesting, the ship was still moving, and my Ikonta was the closest camera to me that morning! ----- BTW -- if I am ever fortunate enough to be able to make the trip again, I intend to make the Tuscan region the major emphasis of the trip. Beautiful country!

The tower is called "Torre de Marzocco" and it is built in the beginning of 15th century for military purposes. Height is about 60 meters. Just to mention, there is one much more famous tower nearby Regards Reijo
