Don't know how many of you have a modern Cosina SLR, but I get fooled by the Safety Lever. Cosinas have a shutter lock or safety built into the winder lever that you have to pull out a bit to be able to take a picture. It doesn't take much to bump it forward and lock the shutter. I've been caught up several times when attempting to take a photo by this little safety measure. You compose the shot, and push the shutter button, and miss the shot. Gotta keep reminding myself to pull that lever out a bit.

I do remember (at least) one camera I've had had where this applied - maybe it was one of the Cosinas.

Cosina had this on its non-SLR, the Bessa-L. I gave some thought to getting out the Drermel and removing it. I think this is on a couiple of Cosina-made Vivitar SLRs.

That hidden 'safety' feature is a real nuisance. A friend came around last week with a nice Cosina and lenses he'd just bought for $5 at a garage sale. He thought it was broken, and wanted me to repair it until I showed him how to get the shutter to release.
