Here are my latest buys from eBay. Everything was in one auction and I was surprised to see the Argus A3 and the Argus CC together. And I was really pleased to also see the instruction manual, I have looked and not found copies of it on the net. The A3: The Argus CC: Instruction manual: Now for a nice gentle cleaning.

The Argus isn't as well known over this side of the pond as over there. I don't think I have ever seen either model in the flesh, so thanks for the photos. Mike Butkus (? correct spelling) would, I'm sure, be interested in a copy of the instruction manual.
Dave.

Two very nice examples of Argus cameras. As you probably already know, the CC is fairly scarce, having been built for only a short period of time immediately preceding WW2. Here is a photo of mine, which is not in as nice shape cosmetically as yours. They are fun to use. If you are so inclined, I would really like to see some shots from yours. Roy

Always loved the look of the Argus A3. How does it feel in the hands. Is it comfortable?

Thanks for all the nice comments. Dave, These are the first ones I have ever seen also. I had seen them on the Argus Collectors web site but those were very small images. I recently received, as a gift from my wife, "Glass, Brass and Chrome" which has a lot of information about them. And I did tell my wife that it was her fault that I bought them since she bought me the book. ;D And yes I am familiar with Mike Butkus' site, it is one of the first places I go when I am looking for a manual and I have even donated a couple to him. So once I get my scanner hooked back up I will be contacting him again. Roy, Yes I do plan on running at least 1 roll through them but right now they both seem to be firing on the same speed no matter what the setting. So using Daniel R. Mitchell's great site I plan on trying to clean the A3 first to see if I can't get the speeds right. pheugo.com/cameras/index.php?page=ilexprecise33, The A3 is pleasant to hold and seems to be very comfortable to use. The weight difference between the A3 and the CC is amazing! I am surprised and how much added weight the meter adds to the CC. jayd, Thank you. I had a bit of serendipity in obtaining these two. I have an A2B and and AF but not just a plain old A model. So I did a search on eBay for "Argus A" and this auction came up but it wasn't located in the camera section but rather the "Collectibles>Science and Medicine> 1930 to Now"! I believe if it had been posted in the Camera section I never would have had the opportunity to buy them.

"Glass, Brass, and Chrome" is an excellent book and one of my favorites. Congratulations!! I just picked up a good working model A and a mod AF that's missing its' lens. Do you know if the Argus Collectors Group is still around? I haven't been able to find them, just old links. Doug

Steeler,
I wonder if your wife has realised by now not to buy you any more books!
I sent some scans of some Pentax manuals to Miks Butkus. I checked to make sure the email was getting through okay, before I sent them. I'm pretty sure the files did go though, but I got no reply, nor have the manuals appeared. Did yours go up on his website?
Dave.

These are the two sites I am familiar with although they look the same just on different servers. arguscg.tripod.com/id54.htmlwww.arguscg.org/Roy, Thanks for the yahoo groups link I will have to check that one out. Did yours go up on his website? Dave. Dave, Actually we feed each others hobbies. She is a scrapbooker and I always support her and have more than once bought her something she has been looking at but has been hesitant to buy because of the price. And actually she did the same for me just last night. I was looking at a Kodak Medalist on eBay. It was complete with the case, flash attachment, cut film back, ground glass and film holder plus numerous filters. I joked that we needed to find away to get more back on our tax refund, we both always take a small amount and then use the rest for something big, as the buy it now price was more than what I would get to spend. She took the mouse from my hand clicked the "Buy it Now" button and said is that how you do it? ;D My manuals did finally show up on Mike's site but it took quite a while and from the one email I got from him I got the impression that he would have preferred that I had sent him the manual and not just the scan. I've got an A3. They have a very unique art-deco type look. W.

I have to correct myself. I have a model A, mod. FA (not AF), and a Super Seventy Five. I've had a lot of others over the years, most were sold at some point. I'd like to find a model C-2, a model M, or a Minca 28. I like the styling on those as well. They're fun cameras to collect and easy to work on Doug

Larry,
You are going to grow fond of that camera and even fonder of your wife. What a gem. (Your wife that is.)
Is it the Medalist 1 or 2?

Mickey Mickey, It is a Medalist 1 with a lens code of EE which I understand means 1944. And yes I do grow fonder of her each and every single day. I consider myself a very lucky man.
