Hi All! Well, I've discovered that I can't be trusted on my own Barb went to visit her sister in Delaware for a couple of days. It's nice out, so I decide to take a ride. Ended up in an antique shop. Bought this. This is just the way I brought it home. Now I suppose I'll have to hunt down some sort of lens for it. At least it came with 5 rolls of film (no exp. date on the film), so I guess 15 bucks was worth taking a chance on it. Why can't people sell their old cameras with the lenses still attached? It's very frustrating!! Doug

Doug,
Good news. I can't see the photo at the moment but I note from the URL it is a Nikon. The photo will suddenly get through., as I'm sure the news that you have bought another camera will reach your wife pretty soon.
(The photo has just come up.)

Right and wrong, most of the cameras sold with lens comes with a 50mm, so if one collects the same mark, one will end up with quite a lot of 50mms

Hye, I know what you mean but somehow a camera never looks complete without its original lens. That said I do tend to buy 'body only' if buying new now. The standard zoom lenses are pretty poor these days and, unless I'm buying a new make, I already have a better lens (or lenses) than would come with the kit. (Exceptions of, of course, are those kits that come with the top quality lenses.)
Dave.

Dave,
Normally the 1st camera I buy will be with its original 50mm lens, thereafter I will try to buy only the body of the same make as I upgrade
I also tend to buy 3rd party lens, quite considerable saving, this will give me more of a budget when I upgrade to a new body.
Must say that since I have retired, I'm a bit more careful and upgrading has gone down to a snail's crawl,
Hye

I have noticed on one auction site, that a lot of older auto focus cameras are commanding premium prices if the original 50 mm, f1.7 lens is present. Most of the companies stayed with the same lens mount for auto focus when they switched over to digital, and the kit lenses are short zooms with a maximum aperture of 3.5 or 4.
