When I quit shooting, I had to hand over my guns to the authorities (that's life in NL...). I still regret trading the 38mm double-action Smith&Wesson, the .357 magnum single-action Sauer (a true beast!), the 8mm Mauser carbine, and most of all, a very handsome Krico 310 (.22 rimfire) rifle with Anschütz diopter. Wayne, can you comment on the why??? I used to have a lot of Olympus equipment (OM1, OM2n, OM2p, OM4, and lenses from 24 - 200mm) which I was forced to sell due to financial woes... (got a very good price for them). I still regret it. So, I'm interested in your reasons. Hans I got the OM1 because I had a chance to take a trip to Norway and the Olympus was the most compact SLR around. The only other camera I had at that time was a Mamiya M645. I would have got a Nikon FM but couldn't manage it money-wise. I had pretty much shot with Nikkormats and Nikon Fs for 35mm up to that point. The OM-1 was light and compact but I absolutely HATED the seperate on/off switch that I was always leaving on and running down the batteries. The finder was darker than on the Nikons and a lot harder to focus. And finally, it may have just my prejudice but I didn't feel the Olympus lenses were as sharp as the Nikkors I had in the past.. Got rid of the OM-1 as soon as I got back from Norway and never had any urge to get another -- in fact I turned down one that was offered to me free a few years ago.
