$1,222.00 for a display piece.
It's cheaper than a Van Gough.
Warhol painted soup cans and did all right.
I can get a can of Campbell's Tomato Soup for 99ยข
I'll have to think about it.

I think that I know what he has done to end up with that price. There are five dials on top. If all the numbers are added up you get about 1,222. Seems reasonable to me. Perhaps he doesn't like his turkey cold ;D
(Actually you get more than double that.)

An old friend of mine always used to say: Every day, at least one stupid person stands up in the morning ... you just need to find him

Berndt,....which reminds me of the old joke: In Britain one person gets knocked down on the roads every five minutes. He keeps wondering "Why me?" I do note that the camera still has 28 days and 22 hours left. I presume Mr. Seller isn't expecting to find that stupid person too quickly. He also has several other photographic items: all seem somewhat overpriced (but then so are many works of art). He does at least have several decent photos of the offending item: every view covered. Further information on the camera here: www.cameraquest.com/ektra.htmIt does explain why the camera is sold as "non-working".

Having read the beautifully detailed description of the Ektra provided by the site suggested by Dave I was struck by the many similarities it has to two cameras - the Kodak Medalist l and the Exakta VX.. It seems to be an amalgam of the good features of both cameras of its era. It is a shame its shutter was so unreliable. But for that it might be classed as one of the world's great cameras.
If I were a millionaire I might "stand up in the morning" after being "knocked down on the road" and buy the thing with my pocket change. I would then take it to the world's most expensive camera repairer. I would then strut around for the rest of my life with it draped around my neck making all you folks drool. I'd probably wear it to bed too.

It's specification is certainly "something else". There seem to be dials everywhere. Perhaps it's a camera that should have been a design concept rather than going into production. Every possibility seems to have been incorporated: every one that is except reliability. As you say, Mickey, a great shame.

I STILL have a pile of Nikons. Considering starting a collection of Ricoh SLRs and RFs.

WOW ! That`s a lot of money for a non working item.
Mickey, if you are able to find a Campbell`s can with a signature of Andy Warhol for 0,99.- you`ll be a lucky guy ;D
PS.: I dont think that millionaires stands up in the morning, rather working people had to get up early...

He's operating on the same theory as the Nigerian spammers. If you stick an absolutely unbelievable and ridiculous offer in front of enough people, there may be one person dumb enough to bite on it.

I like the odd $22, suggests the price was calculated precisely and accurately
