This nicely done hot rod came through my shop today. 2 door Model A sedan, sporting a highly modified Chevy 4 cylinder from an S-10 pickup. Modifications include a Holley 4 bbl carb, turbo, and nitrous injection. BAGS of horsepower available on demand. Chassis is a custom built 4 wheel independent suspension. The 80+ year old (!!) owner and driver claims well in excess of 20 mpg if he isn't getting on it. Most body parts are new. Taken with an old Oly dig. P&S, (from my collection of stuff) the replacement for the now defunct Kodak. Enjoy, Roy

Like the overall subdued look of that Ford. I must be getting old though, I never thought of 4 banger turbo in a hot rod. What has the world come to? I guess there is a replacement for displacement after all.

20 mpg (presumably US mpg) seems a pretty good return. A nice looking jobby. Did you take it out for a spin?

Would look a lot better with a 327 Chevy V8 with three two bbl carbs,
Funny, when I was a teen I thought all hot rods should be coupes. Now I like the looks of the sedans better.

Hi Roy!
That is a great looking car ;D I think, however, if I had built it, I might have inserted a T-Bird four cylinder turbo. It IS a Ford after all. I've never driven one, but I saw a T Bucket with one a few years back. It looked like a sweet ride!

Actually, there are probably plenty of modern four cylinder engines that will power it down the road at a nice rate. But they don't SOUND like a 327 Chevy V8.

Dave: One could only wish! Wayne: I agree, but with the turbo spooled up, and nitrous at full flow, the 4-banger would probably give the 327 all it could handle! You've got that right! The exhaust note was downright wimpy! Of course I only heard it at low RPM's, and never with the cutout open.

Nice one Roy. My late father used to collect Model A's.
