The Moon is supposed to be extra close tonight. D300, Hand held 18-200 Nikkor zoom F8, 1/200 sec. 400 iso. Quite a bit of noise.

Yes ... pretty noisy. At ISO 400 ? Or ... you cropped it a lot ? 200 mm seems to be a little bit too less for this angle of view.

Here is the moon where I live, about five minutes before the clouds really moved in.
30 seconds
F/5.6
ISO 100
35mm f/1.8

Yeah, I should of snapped one last night with clear sky's. Unfortunately we've had drizzle all day & all night now. I did notice Friday night the sky was blue with all the light from it.

Yep. Cropped a lot. At least 400 percent.
Nice shot, Andy

My Super moons. Pentax K-5 with 600mm Sigma FD mirror lens with adapter for PK. Not very good. Pentax K-5 with Quantaray 70>300mm at 300mm. Better but still lacking. For some reason that I can't explain both pictures show the moon as an oval. Perhaps I should stick with terrestrial photography. Mickey

I missed this spectacle completely, but it was raining here anyway. A couple of very good pictures ! Had the moon really been that yellow ?

MIK:
The moon was that yellow because I shot it right after it rose and I was viewing it through the more polluted atmosphere nearer the ground. After it rose higher it lost the yellow cast. That may have affected the sharpness, too, although in my case it was more a matter of enlarging it too much.

"Had the moon really been that yellow ? MIK"
Yes it was quite yellow. I always thought it was made of green cheese. Now I find it is cheddar.

You should lose posting privileges for a week for a joke that bad, Mickey! What Jokes? Those are the facts Ma'am. A week's loss of posting privileges would probably do me some good. I need a rest. It's hard work being silly. Mickey
