I wonder, how to insert a profile picture here. How to do that ?

Click the profile tab..then Modify profile. And the avatar box is about 1/2 way down the page

Yes, I found that ... but how can you get your own picture in ?

Berndt, profile>modify profile>insert URL into relevant box.

URL: upload photo to photo sharing programme such as imageshack, photobucket. This the URL from my avatar: img638.imageshack.us/img638/5392/pondlife.jpg

That said there have been times when it hasn't worked fully for me.

Reply written earlier - caught the wrong key and lost it.

I can't recall for this forum if it needs a correct size (in terms of pixels) photo to put up, and whether it accepts only single pass jpgs: I've not looked for a year and more. The other thing from flickr and others is to ensure it's the correct link - as far as I know it has to be the "direct link".

If I get chance I'll have a play later.

Did you Photobucket the picture first?

In Photobucket click on Direct Link or its equivalent in Flickr.
'Direct Link' is one of the four choices under or beside your photo.
That should 'copy' it.
Then in the Modify section paste it into 'Avatar URL' box - and hold your breath.

OR _______________________ At the top of the page at which you are now looking there is a long grey horizontal band with a number of headings in it.
Click on '[HELP]'
In HELP under the column 'Admin. Panel' (Cont.) there is a sub head .Avatars

Carry on. That should do it.

I tried all options on Flickr ( including uploading the picture in the correct 100x100 pixel size ) ... but nothing Photobucket ? I'll check that ... but on the other hand, it's not THAT important. I just thought, it might be easier. I am not a computer expert ... unfortunately
