On the Dutch electronic flea market a bunch of old, well preserved film was offered. I couldn't resist... Mainly to use under-used cameras sitting in some box (sounds familiar? :-) IMG_1002 by hanszeiss, on Flickr And it turned out to be a 'lomo' experiment... Photoshop (or Gimp) to the rescue! The pics of Flickr are made using Konica film of some 10 years over time. CanonT90_2012-10-30_28 by hanszeiss, on Flickr Not too bad, only very low in contrast. I like the FD 35-105 mm lens, even mine is unfortunately a little bit moldy It has a wide range, still staying at F:3.5, if you like ... and MACRO, as I remember. Not many modern zoom lenses can promise that ( if any at all ). I used mine "just" on my digital GH1, but my first test shots didn't turn out that bad. I might need to find one in better condition. Makes a nice and flexible walk around lens on a film SLR like yours. But Hans ... I didn't exactly understand ... what did you mean by "lomo" ?

Hans, As a user of the wonderful T90 for twenty years I know for certain it is psychologically incapable of producing horrid Lomo pictures. It has too much pride to stoop so low. Mickey

Hi Berndt,
'lomo' is used here to designate the current trend under youngsters (students of all sorts) to experiment with film. Vignetting, false colours (crossing) etc. is really the game in town. Lomo stands for the Russian camera works which was - how shall I put it nicely - not famous for their quality. But it corresponds with the 'zeitgeist'... An old film like the Konica acts a bit like this - although Photoshop did its work. Just google on the term 'lomography' or 'lomo' and you'll see what I meant. Hans

And, yes, I like the 3,5/35-105 very much!

Lomo tends to be used as a description of artistic but very, very, dodgy photography, taken on the Lomo or the Hong Kong Phoey Diana's and simple 135 or 120 cameras, the Canon is way above any Lomo, but then any bad shots on any cameras could be classed as Lomo! Better to have enthusiastic film users than put people off Lomo, as it has become a major force in film photography.

Mickey, Nothing wrong with the T90 3,5/35-105 combination, but in this case the Konica Superia made it a 'lomo-like' event for me. In low light environment it somehow reversed colours. Chestnut trees in the fall should not be blue; well, not in my part of the world...
Anyway, I know what to expect from the other films. One positive thing, it inspires me to shoot a lot, and take shots in situations where otherwise I would feel the pain in my purse...
Hans.

Hans, I've taken to buying every roll of film I find, regardless of it's age. I've found some real oddballs, such as 6 rolls of Ilford SFX roll film, which I loved. I also found some Agfa Variopan XL, I liked that one too. The only make that I'm wary of is any Solaris film, I haven't had very good experiences with those Doug

Hans, Autumn chestnut trees turn brown here. Have you considered that the problem might lie with the processing? I believe that neither the camera nor the lens would pull such a nasty trick on you. Mickey

Same colours here, Mickey.
For processing I use the same lab for years now, and have never reason to complain. In this case you might be very right indeed - at close inspection some parts are fine and some parts of the film are rubbish. Still strange for a large lab...
This weekend a Contaflex Super B roll will return, this time a fresh film, end date 2014.
Hopefully next week there's some time to process it (scanning with a Nikon IV ED, some postprocessing in Photoshop - horizon, cropping, nothing serious, which I'm not capable of anyhow...).
Hans
P.S. it is a Belgian lab... that might say it all:-) - common joke here - no (real) offense meant...
P.P.S. both camera and lens are beyond any doubt - enough proof here!

Oh I know, what "lomo" is, I just couldn't get the connection to your camera, which obviously isn't some toy camera at all

I think it is great for students to experiment with new techniques and processes. First, however, they should learn to produce good quality pictures. Otherwise their experimental photos may just be cover ups for their ignorance and/or carelessness and/or indifference. From aeons before 1839 people have striven to produce better pictures and better equipment. From the little I have seen of Lomo it as just a dumbing down, a reversal of both endeavors. I wonder what they would do with a charred stick and a cave wall. Mickey (Professional Luddite)

I always lusted after a T90 when I had my A1's and AE1's. Perhaps it's time to get one?
