Found a Zeiss Symbolica in a theft store the other day. A very cursory check indicated that it probably on operating condition. The case is pretty bad but the camera looks pretty good. Never heard of this camera before. They are asking $25 USD for it. Hans, do you know anything about it? Is it worth $25? When I can get around again I'll go back and take a closer look

Roy,
For 25 USD it certainly is a theft store! I would pay 10 for a pristine one at the most - must be said that Symbolicas are far more common here.
The Symbolica was made in 2 variations and both sport a good lens, the 2,8/50mm Tessar, which they shared with the rest of the Contessa family. Concerning usability, they have one drawback, it is designed to be fully automatic, so if the Selenium cell isn't functioning anymore it degrades to a paper weight. You should also check the lever. It should go smooth, but the Contessa series (especially the second type - closed body - are prone to disfunctioning due to hardened grease. In the past I repaired a couple of them, but as they are easily found and cost next to nothing, I don't bother anymore.
