Off in the distance was one of only 11 flyable B-17s in the world. "Aluminum Overcast" is operated by the Experimental Aircraft Association of Oshkosh, Wisconsin and was visiting Nampa, Idaho. You could take a 1 hour ride in it for $500 or walk through it on the ground for $10.

I was at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on the Saturday before a race when I heard a low rumble approaching. A pair of B-17s was flying low over the front straight. I told my son it seemed an odd thing to do on the day before the race, when it struck me, they rehearsing for Sunday. The next day, when the Star Spangled Banner was playing, I had my camera ready, and was rewarded as they flew right over my seat.
