I will get out the macro lens and bellows for the Digital PM-1 tomorrow and re-try some shots closer up, there are lots of these spiders nest around this year.

The little spiderlings have vanished into the Yew Tree, but there are a couple of other nests that should open tomorrow or the next days, so prepared the Exakta with film and the Olympus PM-1 with a bellows and enlarger lens used as a macro lens.
My old ring Mecablitz flash is somewhat out of order, and not really suitable for digital cameras anyway as the trigger voltage is too high. The Olympus will work on TTL metering though with the FL-14 flash, and the Exakta has a high 400 ASA film in it.
The weather being hot now is obviously just right for the eggs to hatch enmass, they climb and leave web for the main crowd to climb to safety in the trees.
Not sure of the classification of the spiders, the markings, yellow and black, they may change as they grow older.
Stephen.

We have what's called the Agressive House Spider here in Ohio. They are impossible to get rid of. The agressive house spider is related to the Hobo Spider and the Brown Recluse. I get occasional bites from them. They will run and jump on you. What you hear about rolling in your sleep is hogwash. The damn things will bite you just for your blood. I caught a few and had them analyized.

I don't know Mickey, the last spider I saw was carrying a cement block around.

The spiders have completely disappeared!...so far, the weather must have been right for mass hatching out! Bet they are around in the tree outside, and will re-appear in the autumn.....

You would love the tarantulas we have living on the roof. They come in at night and scare the hell out of the cats but are harmless... right.
